Braille Transcription and Accessible Document Services

People need information in formats they can access. Languages Translation Services (LTS), established in 2004, helps agencies, schools, healthcare organizations, businesses, and other institutions prepare Braille and accessible-format materials. We review production specifications before accepting projects because Braille requirements differ by audience, content, format, and delivery method.

Braille transcription services

We handle requests for conversion of appropriate source documents into Braille, including public notices, forms, educational and informational materials, handouts, and organizational communications. A Braille project may involve specialized formatting, pagination, tables, graphics, or printed production; the exact deliverables are established during quoting.

Important: Braille is a writing system used with different languages; it is not itself one of the spoken languages in our language list. Please specify both the language and the Braille requirements for your project. LTS confirms the appropriate code, grade, and production capability case by case.

Accessible documents and alternative formats

  • Braille transcription: Braille-ready files and/or physical copies as agreed.
  • Large-print materials: Preparation of readable versions according to the requested specifications.
  • Accessible document remediation: Review requests for accessible digital document formatting, including PDF or Word accessibility needs.
  • Document design and desktop publishing: Adjust presentation where content requires changes for an accessible output format.
  • Multilingual coordination: Arrange translation and accessibility work together when language and format both need to change.

Who requests Braille transcription?

Typical project inquiries come from public agencies, school systems, healthcare programs, service providers, and organizations preparing customer-facing or internal documents. Whether you need a single item or a larger package, the estimate should specify each document and the required final format.

What is needed for an accurate estimate?

  • Original editable files, PDF, or other source materials
  • Source language and preferred Braille code and grade, if known
  • Page count, complexity of tables, forms, or graphics, and layout needs
  • Digital file only, embossing/printing, or both
  • Number of copies, shipping destination if applicable, and due date
  • Any agency or accessibility specifications that must be followed

We will identify any requirements that need clarification before quoting. Availability, applicable standards, shipping, and costs are confirmed for the specific project.
